COIN612 Thermal Module: Wide Ranges of IR Lenses

The COIN612 thermal camera core has been very hot and well praised by our customers since its launch. Inquiries with all kinds of applications, such as UAV Payloads, Industrial Thermography, Security Monitoring and other related industries are made by the customers. In particular, except for some basic parameters about thermal camera module, the IR lens configuration is frequently asked.

Based on the needs of customers for multiple lenses, GSTiR developers have equipped the COIN612 thermal imaging module with a full range of infrared lenses. In addition to the basic ones (9.1mm/13mm/19mm), more infrared lenses are available: 4.9mm/25mm/35mm/50mm/70mm, making it possible to meet all the needs of customers in different industries.

Why does a thermal camera need more than one lens? In order to figure this out, firstly we need to know the following questions:
-Are you using it for a single purpose or for many different applications?
-Are you using it for items mostly from a distance or within close proximity?
-Are the areas you going to be measuring in hazardous or extremely hot?
All this explains why various IR lenses are needed.

In some specific application scenarios, infrared camera with IR lens that has longer focal length will have higher identification rate but smaller field of view towards the distant target. While the IR lens has shorter focal length will have lower identification rate but larger field of view.

Thermal camera with infrared lens that has longer focal length is mainly used in scenes with high requirements for remote target identification, such as critical location monitoring, border security, enforcement etc. Conversely, infrared lenses with a short focal length are mainly used in scenes that pay more attention to close-range target detection, such as power maintenance, building inspection, health care & epidemic prevention, fire rescue, and consumer electronics.
